Protecting rural water supplies either surface water or groundwater is challenging and rewarding when it happens. This presentation will characterize how successful protection measures have been implemented despite the common obstacles to protection. Case studies will demonstrate how local stakeholders through BMP’s, cost share programs, legal disputes and sheer determination have protected two rural communities in Kentucky.
